My name is Tien Tran and I am an immigrant from Vietnam. My father (an American citizen) moved me to the United States at two years old so I could have a better opportunity for education. I am currently a high school senior ranking in the top 1% of my class. I will be the first person in my entire lineage to graduate high school and attend college. This encourages me to be resilient in the rest of my educational career. The University of Texas at Austin is my dream college and I will attend in fall of 2016. I currently volunteer weekly at a private medical clinic, which has shaped my goals in pursuing a career in the medical field. I aim to become a board-certified doctor and ultimately cure sicknesses around the world.
The University of Texas at Austin is one of the most prestigious universities in the world, as it is ranked the number one public university in Texas. To receive the honor of being able to study at such a prestigious university would be incredibly beneficial to my career. In the long run, I envision being a board-certified doctor and owning a private medical clinic. This is a goal I have a desire to see fulfilled since volunteering at a local clinic where I developed my skills as a competent and compassionate medical professional. It was through this volunteering that I learned of the way many lives are destroyed due to illnesses they cannot afford to treat. This is why I plan on donating my time to help those who suffer from significant financial troubles and are not able to afford even the most basic of medical care. I will find satisfaction in my life by making a difference in the health of others.
